COMPARE/CONTRAST ESSAY
Point by Point Compare Contrast
Essay
Old Vs. Modern Times
“The
production of too many useful things results in too many useless people.” This quote by Karl Marx refers to the
lethargy, languor, and element of dependence that escalate in people upon
depending on technology and gadgets to do the job. Technology which was
supposed to be a means to an end and to assist people in doing their daily
chores in great efficiency seems to have lost its basic role and trespassed it
to much more than that. As such, life in modern times has changed a lot from
the old one. This difference is highly displayed in daily chores and work
field.
To begin with, daily chores have been highly influenced by the emergence and dominance of technology. It goes without saying that one’s lifestyle has changed a lot due to the use of technology, for by the time old house wives used to do all their house chores like mopping, dusting, dishwashing, and laundry by their bare hands, today’s housewives have become more dependent. Vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, laundry and dry cleaning machines, and microwaves are there now to assist, if not replace, housewives in their daily errands. And women still wonder why men no longer rush to get married or why they keep on gaining weight.
Yet another difference caused by the advent and supremacy of technology is that in the work field. Technological development has led to the creation of robots and other mechanical devices that were supposed to assist people in their work and help get things done at a faster pace. Earlier, it used to take hours to get a pipe done; however, a hydraulics machine can get it done in less than 30 minutes these days and with greater efficiency. This, along with the fact that having an accurate machine get the job done instead of a working hand would mean lifting off the burden of wages, has led to the replacement of human beings, the creators, by their creation at their workplace.
As a conclusion, Nick Joaquin’s saying, “The point is not how we use a tool, but how it uses us.” is unquestionably true. People should beware the ways in which they cultivate technology and to what extent that is done, for technology has the potential and power to reshape and restructure the life as we know it into a whole new version. As such, people should use it wisely.

Writing Prompt Two: Display the differences between modern and future schools in a well-organized compare/contrast essay.
Sample 1:
Completely Different!
Life is in a constant change, and so is
education. This highlights and alludes the unstoppable and inevitable cycle of
change and modification in education due to the authoritative leverage enforced
by gadgets and innovations on education in modern schools. Education is the
spirit that moves from one generation to another, and it is the golden key that
locks the gate of ignorance. However, schools are being altered on aregular
basis due to technology and innovation. Future schools differ from modern
schools by teachers, strategies and methods of teaching, and human touch. To begin with, one of the enormous differences between future and modern schools is teachers. In the future, robots are most likely to replace human beings as teachers. Robots would never be as creative as human teachers. They just act and respond to what humans tell them to do, for they are programmed according to a specific manner. As such, robots and computers follow the concept of one question by one answer without willing to ponder alternate answers that students suggest. However, teachers act in front of them, alter their questions to ensure that they are well understood by their students, and use myriad types of teaching aids. They also help students sort out fixing grades and life situation.
Another notable difference between modern
and future schools is strategies and methods of teaching. To begin with, modern
schools exploit and utilize multi and various strategies in order to help out
the students in cultivating their skills in and understanding lessons. For
instance, innumerable and uncountable strategies and methods are followed and
taught by the teachers. On the contrary, the future schools are monotonous
since robots maintain one strategy which the one they are programmed to follow.
Comparing both types of schools one can also notice the third difference which is the human touch. The modern schools embody and follow collective education which depends on teaching students and pupils in the same class and together. This leads to having social interaction between students which assists in building strong bonds and relationships among them and aids in fortifying their social skills. Moreover, the teachers would recognize the students’ mood and aid them in overcoming it unlike future schools which lack this social interaction due to the individual education held by robots teachers who can never be a human’s rival.
As a conclusion, people can expect that the teacher and learning process will change signficantly due to the technological innovations in daily educational activities. However, one should beware those changes and make sure that they cultivate the positive ones and curb or curtail the negative ones.

Modern Vs. Future Schools
Life
is in a constant change, and so is education. This portrays and asserts that
not only does life change but also education. Schools are always found to
educate students no matter how much time passes. However, modern and future schools
differ in various things like teachers, human touch, and teaching strategies.
One major difference between modern and future schools is the teacher. In modern schools teachers are human beings unlike those in future schools which are programmed robots. Modern teachers are 1 subject matter teachers unlike future ones which are multi-subject androids. Moreover, teachers in modern schools have innumerable teaching strategies; whereas robotic teachers would have one teaching strategy, one that they are programmed to use. They lack the ability to use probing questions and modify these questions to be fathomed by their student.
Another basic difference between these 2 types of schools is the human touch. To begin with, modern teachers can communicate with students and react with them in contrast to future ones which teach without any reaction. In addition face to face cooperation in modern schools is better than screen cooperation in future ones. Teachers in modern schools are more likely to notice if a student is daydreaming, feeling ill, or unable to concentrate due to personal problems. They even sympathize and are more compassionate enough to try to figure out the adversity or predicament that is influencing their students and would try to aid them in tackling and combating those predicaments.
In addition to what was mentioned, modern and future schools differ in teaching strategies. In modern schools various teaching methods are used such as group work and presentations. Teachers would exert a gigantic and colossal effort to interact with students and involve them as active learners rather than passive ones, and this is often attained through using active learning strategies. Add to that that teachers in modern schools would bear in mind the Dis and MIs of students and whether they are visual learners or not. On the other hand, in future schools robotic teachers are programmed to teach using one method not more. As such, if a student wasn’t able to understand, a robotic teacher wouldn’t be able to alter its teaching method to ensure that the pupil comprehends what is being explained.
As a conclusion, modern education is better than future one for it strengthens bonds and relationships and helps students understand better. Therefore, even though life is in a constant alteration and everything is liable to change, one should do his best to exploit the best in it and curb the worst.

"Technology is a queer thing; it
offers you great gifts with one hand and stabs you in the back with the other."
This quote asserts that even though technology aids and improves many aspects
of our everyday life, the excessive use of it may result in many effects being
either positive or negative. These effects can be categorized into various categories
such as mental effects, physical effects, and social effects.
Technology has widely affected people's
mental state due to the excessive use of technological appliances from
calculators to computers to smartphones. The everyday use of those appliances
has made it relatively difficult for people to perform or undergo simple tasks
encountering them daily without the help of certain appliances. Such situations
have created a sense of reliability on technology and minoring the intelligence
of upcoming generations.Another domain in which technology has had a wide impact is the physical domain. The excessive use of vehicles made man get used to the idea of just sitting down and driving or getting any place one might desire. Also, video games, especially online, require sitting down for a plentiful of hours just staring at a screen, falling in love with a controller. Such routines make laziness a habit and obesity the usual state of being.
Technology has also had an enormous amount of social effects on humanity. It is true that technology has facilitated many aspects of one's life by involving machinery and technical systems to every working domain, but while doing so, it has increased the chances of unemployment, pollution, and made online embezzlement and fraud a very possible phenomenon. It's fair to say that it has pointed the moral compass towards "evil".
Technology is the activity of man directed to create perfection in every lifestyle possible. Practice makes perfect, yet technology took us to the final without any practice session.

"Once a new technology takes over the world, if you're not part of the steamroll you are part of the road." This quote asserts and implies that technology is growing and escalating day by day, and if one wasn't up-to-date to all those changes, he will be left in the past. Technology is hence affecting everybody's life in many ways, for people are using this technology excessively. The three domains into which the effects of excessive use of technology can be categorised are economical, psychological and educational effects.
To begin with, the first category of effects of excessive use of technology is economical. Technology is used excessively in industries. Industries and industrial companies use technological gadgets such as machines and robots in an unbelievable manner which increases unemployment enormously since those machines are taking place of human employees. Besides, companies which use technology a lot in their work are paying unintentionally more money in fixing those machines which leads to the increase of money paid on them and thus to the deterioration of the economical cycle which will affect the whole country. For instance, when a "mainframe" isn't working well in a company, it will cost them around $50,000 to repair it and bring all the information lost; however, a secretary is most of the time working well, and rarely loses information.
Another domain of effects of excessive use of technology is psychological. Recent studies show that people who use technological gadgets excessively (more than 10 hours a day) seem rather to be less smart and feel as if they are useless compared to those who don't. Besides, those people become lazy, independent, and not creative. All those are counted as psychological and mental effects of excessive use of technology. That's not to mention cyber bullying and cyberstalking where bullies are finding an easy way to do "their thing" with other people through the Internet and phones which are used for spying and bullying at the same time. This action affects psychologically all those being bullied. And none of those would've been happening if it weren't for excessive use of technology.
In addition to that, educational effects is another category of the effects of excessive use of technology. Students nowadays are using the Internet and other technological gadgets excessively in their homework, lessons, and projects. This affects their academic level and decreases their ability to be independent and creative, hence causing them to deteriorate in their schools and increase problems of communication and sociability with others. That's all because of the excessive use of technology which draws limits on students' creativity, increases their dependence, and decreases their ability to communicate with others, that's not to mention eye problems caused by technological gadgets which will cause them academic and educational problems.
As a conclusion, technology is a double edged weapon and a very useful one if utilised in regulated manner, but if used excessively, it would affect one's life dangerously in three main domains, psychological, economical, and educational. Thus, one should never use it in such an excessive manner or the first to be damaged would be him.

Classification Essay: Two Categories of Effects of Technology
Sample 1:
To begin with, one of the most prominent and distinct categories of technology’s positive effects is ignited by the communicational sector. Technology has had a cosmic and significant effect on people’s life due to the facilities and aids that have been introduced into their world in order to ease communication such as high speed vehicles like airplanes and cars, the invention, and the foundation of the World Wide Web. For instance, nowadays cars and airplanes save people’s time, by getting them to their destination in no time, so technology aids and assists in saving time while traveling. Moreover, the invention of the internet and the discovery of the WWW have improved ways of communication, for the world has witnessed a monumental change due to this cosmic, vital, and crucial technological revolution.
Another set of positive imprints of technology is in people’s lifestyle. This is highly reflected by the radical change the world has undergone which molded and reshaped people’s lifestyle making it more luxurious and comfortable. For example, nowadays people utilize gadgets and machines that facilitate their daily chores and whatever they set their mind to do. For instance, these days there are myriad gadgets that do the work on people’s behalf. As such, people’s lifestyles have become more luxurious, easy, and comfortable.
As a conclusion, technology is the golden key that opens the gate of success and the spirit that moves from one generation to another maintaining an epic upsurge and progress. But will mankind be a worthy opponent that controls his whims, caprices and desires in order to save his humanity and continue at the same time with this cosmic technological development? As such, the quote, “science and technology revolutionized our lives, but memory, tradition, and myth flame air response” unquestionably true.

Sample 2:
“It has become appallingly obvious that our technology exceeded our humanity.” This quote foreshadows and alludes that technology is replacing each sector in people’s lives. This technological revolution has no stop, and it is affecting humanity leaving those inerasable imprints everywhere. Unfortunately, there are various and uncountable effects of technology that include positive impacts such as social and economic imprints.
To begin with, one of the major categories which the imprints of technology are categorized into is the social effects. Because of technology, the “social” life one is living has developed into becoming a better one to attain a rather fruitful life. Technology has provided various devices that play a significant role in developing societies such as smartphones and computers. In the presence of these devices, the world has become “one global village” where distance no longer builds bricks of difficulties that threaten the bonds between families and members of societies. Moreover, statistics have shown that more than 50% of countries have been civilized due to technology. It helps and plays a critical role in making its citizens people of knowledge and respect. A great example would be comparing the life style of the European citizens to that of Africans.
In addition to that, technology has proven to have a crucial role in the world’s economy. Because of technology, the world’s economy is improving due to the presence of robots. Nano-technology and robots increase the presence of having more practical and more efficient machines working where they increase the needed supplies of a country in less time. A country’s power is in its economy and not in its power to rule other countries. Yet another economic benefit of technology is providing an online platform for factories and businesses to display and market their products which gives them straight access to every household and assists them in reaching more customers all across the globe. This would help increase their orders and their income.
As a conclusion, science and technology revolutionize our lives to attain a better one. The Utopia humans being are creating is due to using technology in a proper manner, in a manner in which it develops our societies. Humans must think twice before they have that power between their hands. Technology shows how civilized members of societies are and how knowledgeable they can become. Thus, technology leaves innumerable imprints on the social and economic life of members and societies.

Sample 3:
Mark received one hell of a job opportunity that will make full use of his software engineering skills in Sweden, and his initial thought was to tell his beloved and dear girlfriend, Anna, the news. He ran to his home and as soon as Anna answered the door, he burst into tears, for he realized that with this job opportunity a hard stage of his relation will begin, a long distance relationship. It’s here where technology leaves an impact, an impact that pushes humanity forward into a new age. The imprint engraved in the roots of mankind, the imprint of technology, can be classified into numerous categories, two of which are social and economic.
As a start, technology’s social effects can be depicted as connecting people all around the world and sharing cultures. People travel and move into other places, and with that, relationships fall apart and disintegrate if not for the wide possibilities that are provided by technology, from the now-essential interconnected web to the simple phone call that is now rarely used. In addition to that, technology has permitted the sharing of cultures between societies and a proof of that is the globalized world that is being witnessed these days. With the presence of the Internet, one has access to all kinds of traditions, beliefs, and cultures and can easily have access to the latest news all across the globe.
Moreover, distributing products into wider markets and interviewing employees miles away became easier with technology. Companies are making use of technological advancements to transport products into newer markets which consequently increases sales. This is further strengthened through transforming some of the social media like Facebook, Instagram, and phone apps into an online platform that boosts their sales through marketing their products to customers while at home. It also allows employers to achieve employee diversity by interviewing people in other countries as far as Australia. This fortifies business through enabling a wider range of skills, beliefs, and thoughts that could assist in attaining better productivity and higher quality which would suit every taste.
All in all, technology has undeniably altered human beings’ whole world in an unimaginable way that pushed humanity into a new age, an age of magnificence, not only socially but also economically. However, one should stay on high alert while exploiting technology, for it has the potential to sweep one off his feet, make him lose balance, and take over the steering wheel, steering him whichever way, which could be to heaven, but with the loss of his full consciousness, it’s most likely to hell.

Sample 4:
“The point is not in how we use a tool, but how it uses us.” This quote asserts and alludes that technology is a double edged sword put in the hands of humans to test their ability to keep technology simple and not let it use them and take them down into the depths of hell. Moreover, the real case of technology is not about if any person can use it; it’s about if technology can use them. However, technology seems to rather be one’s life on a daily basis, so it has myriad disadvantages that are categorized into plenty of impacts, two of which are the social impacts and the economic impacts.
To begin with, technology has weaved its way into the social lives of humans in a rather unhealthy manner. Humans are like wet cement; whatever falls on them makes an impression. Henceforth, technology seems as a rather life-destroyer than a life-savior. Socially, most humans tend to be some kind of bait for technology. It is commonly not clear how a life-savor can create nothing but lazy and slothful people, also known as couch potatoes. It is also not clear how a life-savior can create such isolation and depression for one, especially teenagers, due to bullying whether it is cyber, physical, or psychological.
Another category of negative impacts of technology to be taken into consideration is that of economic impacts. Humans are ready to give up hundreds of dollars, for what? Not for charity nor for raising awareness, but for an iPhone 7. This world has reached a level in which loads of human beings have actually given up on life. Economically, the money is ascending in the government due to people buying the last technological gadget released. It is undeniable that the society is building nothing but trend followers who would give up millions for a new release.
As a conclusion, this world has reached a time in which Albert Einstein stated that this generation would build nothing but nagging, self-centered kids and even adults. Again, the point is not how we use a tool, but how it uses us. Man’s best creation? More like man’s most epic failure.

Sample 5:
“It is not how one uses a tool, but how it uses him.” This quote alludes and asserts that one should beware his cultivation, exploitation, and utilization of technological gadgets rather than being enslaved by them. Technology has proven to be a cataclysmic foe rather than an aid, and it led to tons and oodles of negative outcomes. These effects can be classified into social and health effects.
To begin with, the technological revolution has led to a voluminous social aftermath such as the loss of face-to-face interaction and the loss of meeting someone who might change one's life positively. Initially, technology has made people more separate and selfish than ever, while it claims to connect them, connection hasn't gotten better. For example, when one spends his whole day using his gadget and texting his friends, he loses his chances in communicating with them. Moreover, it is said that through technology, people are finding true love and their other halves, but this is the opposite of what's happening in the real world. Most people who get married to those they’ve met on social media are getting divorced, and it's leading to inauspicious and precarious obstacles, deterrents, and catastrophes. Thus, someone might lose a chance to meet people who would actually change his life positively.
In addition to that, technology has also led to myriad health issues including poor eyesight and obesity. To begin with, eyesight issues are inevitable, for all a person does nowadays is look at the screen of his gadget without noticing the cosmic amount of time that passes. For example, using a smartphone with a small screen leads to sight problems and hindrances. Using technology regularly escalates the rate of obesity since languor and lethargy would increase. People are neglecting outdoor activities in their daily life, for they find entertainment in their technological gadgets. Thus, less physical interaction is taking place leading to obesity.
As a conclusion, people's ruthless and shameless addiction to their own creations has led to monumental and titanic effects including social and health ones. Technology is a double-edged weapon. One side can aid human beings’ lifestyle beyond measure and leave a positive imprint. The other side might lead to the termination and eradication of other generations, deeming this one as the beasts of yesterday, for this generation has turned the universe into an inferno ablaze.

Sample 6:
To begin with, some of the detrimental effects of technology are classified into a social category. The excessive use of technology causes social isolation, for nowadays people, especially teenagers, spend their time surfing the net and playing video games instead of having normal conversations with their families. Lack of face to face interaction is another cataclysmic and treacherous impact of technology where families only meet in occasions like funerals or on holidays like Thanks giving and Christmas. Unfortunately, cases of adultery are escalating on a regular basis among couples with the excessive spread of social media. Accompanied by the doubts of a skeptic and doubtful spouse, this would lead to an upsurge in the rate of divorce and family disintegration even if the partner is innocent of all the accusations that he/she might be on the receiving end of. Moreover, with the easy access to notorious scenes and movies, people and mainly teenagers and kids are being exposed to things they are too young to be exposed to. Add to that the escalation in cases of cyber bullying taking place and causing an increase in suicide.
Yet another category of impacts imposed by the excessive use of technology is in the physical and health field. Spending a lot of time on social media results in dreadful physical and health issues such as obesity and sight issues. After all, not leaving one’s couch while playing video games and surfing the net or playing games on the smartphones would definitely turn one into a couch potato and ultimately increase his weight. No wonder then that the rate of obesity is in an ongoing rise. In addition to that, one might suffer from backaches and headaches due to the great amount of time spent working on laptops or computers and watching television. Some studies also claim that being subjected to a lot of video games and movies would lead to a decrease in one’s focus and concentration.
As a conclusion, technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master that embodies brutish social and health effects. One must beware the ways in which he uses and cultivates technology and to what extent that is done, for one should enslave technology rather than be enslaved by it because “Whenever science makes a discovery, the devil grabs it while angels are debating the best way to use it.”

Sample 7:
The outcomes of technology can be grouped into a social set, such as strengthening bonds between friends who live a good distance away from each other and increasing one’s dependence. To begin with, technology facilitates communication and interaction by using a mobile device or the internet. For example, if a person has a friend or a relative who lives abroad, they can easily communicate using today’s technology. On the other hand, technology has ascended one’s dependence, for now technology is a reliable feature used on a daily basis. For instance, a mechanical robot has recently been constructed to do housework, which is great; however it increases the owner’s indolence.
Some other effects of technology can be classified as the physical ones, such as maintaining one’s health using technological gadgets and becoming a couch potato. Technological gadgets such as treadmills have been helping users maintain their health and fitness. They also inspire them to be physically active, for these tools are easy to use. However, there’s a chance that people might misuse technology and become slaves to it. Couch potatoes are a perfect example for that.
In conclusion, technology facilitates, yet also ruins, people’s lives with its myriad byproducts which can be categorized into social and physical ones. So, will people keep on using the positive advantage of technology to the fullest? Or will the negative ones tower over the positives?

Sample 8:
"I am afraid of the day technology will surpass our human interaction, the world will have a generation of idiots." This quote highlights Albert Einstein's worries toward the world where life is a screen, feelings are emogies, memories are posts and care is a “like” or a “comment”. These worries are almost here, and idiots are almost filling the world. Technology with all its benefits is rather as fatal as cancer, as deadly as drugs, and as heart breaking as tragedies. Technology as a general rule is full of innumerable disadvantages whether physically or socially.
To begin with, two of the most common physical disadvantages are escalation in the rate of obesity and the birth of the new couch potatoes. People aren't any more in need to walk, for technology has brought them androids, and to think or write, for technology has brought them internet and computers. People are turning into more dependent and lazier creatures losing the good taste of life and missing the cheers of a good fitness. Moreover, now that life has become less challenging, less demanding, more manageable and more trouble free people aren't even leaving their couch to get food; their house maid robots are; they are stuck to couches as babies to milk.
Furthermore, another category of the bundle of disadvantages is the social one such as losing the chance to meet people that would matter and losing face to face communication. People love from the first look, care from the first word, and lose hope after the last bye. But what if “hi” is a text and looks are images? Then what? Then, everybody will lose the chance of meeting his destiny on the street, will lose the taste of triumph after helping others, and will lose the luxury of outings. If everybody looked through the eyes of the phone, then who will like through the lens of life? When looking through the phone, a person seems to see the far but what about the one on the couch in front of him/her? When looking at screens, people are confident enough to talk their heart, but when faced what will happen? They will turn into chickens with vocal cords.
As a conclusion, scientists should stop polarizing Mars and start polarizing minds, for technology had over taken their lives and ruined the minds due to its myriad disadvantages be it socially or physically. When will the world put a limit for technology? When will peace organizations start fighting for minds and souls not idiotism and words?

But will mankind be a worthy opponent that controls his whims, caprices and desires in order to save his humanity and continue at the same time with this cosmic technological development? As such, the quote, “science and technology revolutionized our lives, but memory, tradition, and myth flame air response” unquestionably true.

A Treasure to Value

Sample 3:
A New Age

Sample 4:
Use It properly

Sample 5:
Technological Beasts

The Aftermaths of Technology
“This is perhaps the most beautiful time of human history; it is really pregnant with all the creative possibilities it makes possible by science and technology which now constitute the slave of man if man isn’t and enslaved by it.” This quote depicts how technology has made a huge impact on humans, for it has the potential to change their lives with the creative possibilities it makes possible. However, technology is a double-edged sword that also embodies hazardous and cataclysmic effects, for it has mutated social norms and habits altering the quality of a human being and turning him into the tool of his own tool. Technology which was supposed to assist people in their daily chores and facilitate their lives seems to have lost its basic role and trespassed it to much more than that. The excessive use of technology may result in many catastrophic effects. Those impacts can be classified into social and physical ones.To begin with, some of the detrimental effects of technology are classified into a social category.

A Double-edged Weapon
He woke up to the sound of his mechanical robot ordering him to start getting ready for work. He got up and approached the bathroom and awaited the arrival of the robotic arms that help him get ready on a daily basis. After getting ready, he was now sitting in his car, watching his laptop do his taxes, as it drove itself to work. This shows that technology has perverted human beings’ regular lifestyle and left a colossal impact that would never cease to exist. Technology has been affecting humanity from the moment it came into existence by its detrimental yet useful impacts. The outcomes of technology can be categorized into social and physical ones.

Thanks Technology for Ruining Life
"I am afraid of the day technology will surpass our human interaction, the world will have a generation of idiots." This quote highlights Albert Einstein's worries toward the world where life is a screen, feelings are emogies, memories are posts and care is a “like” or a “comment”.

Classification Essay
Prompt: Write a well-organized classification essay in which you develop the disadvantages of technology.Beware: It Bites
“We can’t jump off bridges anymore
because our iPhones will get ruined. We can’t take skinny dips in the ocean
because there’s no service on the beach and adventures aren’t real unless
they’re on Instagram. Technology has doomed the spontaneity of adventure and
we’re helping destroy it every time we Google, check-in, and hashtag.” This
quote depicts how technology has changed humans’ lives and mutated social norms
and habits altering the quality of a human being turning him into a machine
controlled instead of being the one in control. This indeed specifies how
technology has made a huge atrocious impact on humans and their lives. And the
negative impacts of technology here are specified into the three fields of
social life, economy, and the field of health and medicine.
To
begin with, technology has negatively affected one’s social life and
norms on a wide scale. Technology has had a great role in disrupting and destroying family
bonds and ties minimizing one’s social interaction with the outside world by
the act of excessively using video games and technological gadgets which in
turn causes social isolation which may lead to some psychological problems.
Nevertheless, technology has resulted in the increase of the cases of crime and
violence due to displaying violent and notorious scenes on the T.V and the
internet. Moreover, technology has also resulted in the deterioration of
scholastic outcomes and records due to wasting time on social media, playing
video games, and watching TV.
Technology has also tremendously
changed the world’s economy. To begin with, advanced technology has caused the
loss of jobs due to machines replacing human beings making employees expendable
and useless. Furthermore, factories and businesses are extremely relying on
technology, for the production is greatly affected by the flaws and
malfunctions of a machine. In addition to that, lots of machines at factories
require internet connection to function, thus the production is reduced and
killed when the internet connection is lost. Moreover, technology has caused a
drastic increase in the rates of immigration, for technology has released
workers from their jobs causing poverty and unemployment, so one has to search for
an alternative way to earn his living. As such, people are forced to seek
immigration to foreign countries as an alternative means of earning money.
Furthermore, technology has a huge
impact on the field of health and medicine, for besides its enormous advantages
in this field which are mainly easier diagnosis of diseases and the creation of
better pills and medicines, technology has awful drawback in this field. To
begin with, it has caused the loss of sight due to the great amount of time
spent using technological gadgets. The improvement of medical gadgets and
development of better pills and medicines lead to the uprise and upsurge of the
medical costs. The dependence on medical machines and instruments may lead to a
fault and inaccurate diagnosis thus false treatment which in turn may lead to
death or long-term sickness.
This is life in modern times where man
is being blinded by the instruments which he created, instruments that are
supposed to help and facilitate human lifestyle. But man isn’t aware of the
hazardous calamities and problems awaiting him. Man should open his eyes and
wake up before technology bites him hard, a bite which he won’t be able to
recover from.

The Dark Side
"Amanda Todd" was an untroubled and unruffled paragon of virtue in the heavenly cyber kingdom until she was misled to the abode of the damned by an incognito ogre who asked her to flash her topless body to him and sadly did… A year later, the anonymous sent the "boo-boo" to everyone, and it went viral leaving Amanda a languorous victim of his ailment, for the only option for her was leaving this unfair world due to the burdens technology has created which let ignorant people end the lives of the innocent by changing ethics of humanity. It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity, for technology sure has created global controversy about the direction of its moral compass. That being said, disadvantages of technology are dominating myriad domains including the social, economic and medical ones.
To begin with, one of the substantial domains technology has an impact on is the social domain. The excessive use of technology has destroyed family bonds where families only meet during religious celebrations and funerals. Face-to-face interaction is lost due to being isolated for hours spending time on video games and surfing the net rather than having a normal conversation with another pupil. Also, the absence of parents' control leads to ruining the manners of kids due to notorious scenes they are seeing on TV and the net that cause the increase in cases of crime and violence such as children applying the WWE tricks on their siblings. Such situations have created a sense of reliability on technology diminishing the intelligence of upcoming generations.
Another category technology has an impact on is economical. Technology is used excessively in industries. Industries and industrial companies use technological gadgets such as machines and robots in an unbelievable manner which increases unemployment enormously since those machines are taking the place of human employees. As such, statistics show a drastic increase in the rates of immigration and illegal immigration. Besides, companies which use technology a lot in their work are paying, unintentionally, more money in fixing those machines which leads to the increase of money paid on them and thus to the deterioration of the economic cycle which will affect the whole country. In addition, as technological devices become more advanced and complicated, only specialized professionals such as mechanics and programmers have the ability to fix a problem which would stop the work of the company waiting for the gadget to get fixed.
Technology has also had an enormous amount of medical/health effects on humanity. Suffering from severe health issues including backache and sight issues is due to the great amount of time spent while watching TV, chatting, typing essays, and playing video games. For instance, a student would be forced to cope with a backache after typing lengthy essays just to satisfy his astounding, flabbergasting, ravishing, and incredibly demanding English language teacher. Moreover, lethal and fatal effects are caused due to technical errors and malfunction in medical machines and robots, for it is not uncommon for a computer system to face technical errors which would cause the death of people under surgery.
Beyond the shadow of doubt, technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master. One must beware its lethal and detrimental drawbacks and disadvantages and be aware of its numerous advantages to know how to exploit and utilize it properly, for one should enslave technology rather than be enslaved by it. One must be extremely precautious because, “Whenever science makes a discovery, the devil grabs it while angels are debating the best way to use it.”

The Basics of
Life
“A man without ethics is a wild beast
loosed upon this world”. This quote asserts that one should beware his whims,
desires and caprices, for being lured by our impulses degrades our integrity and
code of ethics and morals in life. As such, whims, desires and caprices can be
defeated by ethics which promote proper code of conduct and behavior and assist
people in distinguishing the right from the wrong. Ethics are classified into
different categories such as social ethics, environmental ethics and global
ethics.
To begin with, social ethics are one of the most notable categories of ethics. Social ethics are the philosophical or moral principles that in one way or another help people in social interaction. In a community, a person must mingle with new pupils and build social bonds. In order to do so, one should maintain a set of social principles and values such as integrity, honesty, patience, and tolerance. For instance, all kinds of discrimination, segregation, and apartheid would vanish in one’s society if people abide by social ethics which embrace tolerance as a cornerstone of proper conduct.

Yet another category of ethics is
environmental ethics. This type of ethics tells a person about his duty and
behavior towards his environment and animals. How often does one see a fellow
citizen passing by another one throwing trash on the ground and stops to ask him
to pick it up instead of simply moving on? How often does a person stand up for
excessive urbanization that is leading to deforestation? How often does a person
take serious action to eliminate the emission of greenhouse gases by using
environment friendly vehicles? All these have a solid ground in one’s
environmental ethics. People should be aware that mother nature takes care of
people by granting them food and oxygen, and one should take care of animals,
decrease the amount of pollution and plant trees instead of cutting
them.
Global ethics is another essential category of ethics. This kind of ethics means different things for different people. It is the vision of a global transformation of ethical awareness. Global ethics may involve an effort to globalize certain ethical values like justice, democracy and sympathy. Such ethics are considered the essence and pillars of peaceful coexistence. In order to achieve such an outcome, one should quit partiality in concerns, for one shouldn’t limit himself to family, society, and country but to worldwide peace.
To wrap it up, ethics are found in many categories such as social, environmental and global ethics. A person must respect those ethics to succeed in his life and to distinguish the good from the evil. So are those ethics meant to stay?

How
Much Do You Really Know About Ethics?
As Potter Stewart says, "Ethics is knowing the
difference between what you have a right to do and what is right to do." This
splendid life quote alludes that one should know that not all what he is allowed
to do is right to be done. As such, one should embrace principles, for society
is built on the top of social, environmental, and personal life
ethics.
One category of ethics is social ethics
which involves moral principles that govern what is and is not acceptable while
participating in society. It forms a base for
people to live on. Religion, charity, morality, and family values are all tools
used to define standards of behavior in one's society. Morals are seen by many
as an infrastructure on which a community depends. Immoral behavior is seen as a
threat to the community and the cause behind its
destruction.
Another category of ethics is environmental
ethics. Environmental ethics refer to the moral relations between human beings
and their natural environment. More
specifically, this set of ethics refers to the value that mankind places on
protecting, conserving, and efficiently using resources that the earth
provides. It is a standard that we use
to view issues threatening the environment.
Everyone has an environmental ethic that he or she holds on to. The key is to balance an awareness and
motivation for environmental issues while not neglecting the needs of
people. After all, the quote, "If we do not permit the earth to
produce beauty and joy, it will in the end not produce food, either" is
unquestionably true because what comes around goes around. As such, if people
don’t take care of earth, earth won't take care of them.
Yet another category of ethics is
personal life ethics. This set of ethics is a system of principles that helps
people tell right from wrong and good from bad. It can push one to better
behavior, as such boost his honesty, loyalty, reliability, and fidelity. It may
help people overcome problems since it teaches patience, perseverance, and persistence, so it eases their
lives.
As a conclusion, no society can live
without ethics for it is the shaft of life. Morals should never be neglected or
underestimated because it's what people live up to for a flourishing community.

Ethics
Ethics are the sets of moral
principles that people should stick to no matter what the situation is. Ethics
are values for men and women concerning human rights, obedience to law, and
health concerns worldwide. There are many types of ethics like professional
ethics, business ethics, and organization
ethics.
The first type of ethics is “Professional
Ethics”. Professional ethics is all about how an employee should behave. For
instance, people who work in media are responsible for transmitting the true
image of how things are to the public. It is part of their professional ethics
to avoid prejudices and hiding the truth or part of it from the public. They are
also expected to maintain objectivity. Another example of professional ethics is
the oath said by medicine and healthcare practitioners to practice their job
with dignity.
Another category of ethics is the one which
is missing in many people these days, especially those who work in advertising
for products and in companies, and it is “Business Ethics “. Business ethics are
morals and principles that arise in business, and the reason they are formed is
to deal with a problem in a civilized way with people. However, many companies
are advertising for their products in a non-economic way and with no dignity
which portrays a deficiency in ethics.
The last category is “Organization
Ethics”. This involves the rules governing the way in behaving within an
organization. Every person in an organization is morally responsible for his or
her own behavior, and any effort to change that behavior should focus on the
individual. For example, an organization should be neutral and never take sides
in any situation.
As a conclusion, ethics in all their
categories are considered the cornerstones and foundations of a healthy
humanitarian society and efficient community. Deficiency in ethics would lead to
corruption, excessive crimes and criminal acts, misbehavior, clashes between
people as well as countries, and deterioration in world peace and destruction of
Mother Nature.

Humanity's Most Important
Trait
“In law a man is guilty when he violates
the rights of others. In ethics he is guilty if he only thinks of doing so.”
This shows how important and specific
ethics are in one’s life. A simple definition of ethics would stage it as the
sets of principles that assert that it is good to maintain life and to further
life; it’s bad to damage and destroy life. As such, ethics are used in all
domains and sectors. There are then, social, professional, and personal
ethics.
Social ethics is the most common and known kind of ethics. It is the appropriate behavior expected from a certain society as a whole and applied in order to curb the relationship with others to establish good communication and a harmonious life. Social ethics differ between one region and another. In almost all regions of Europe and America, burping while eating is impolite, where it brings a sense of disgust, unlike the Korean cultures where if friends are invited to eat together then burp, it’s then regarded as a form of homage and gratitude. So, every action you take must be in accordance with the prevailing social ethic in the area in order to maintain a good and calm life in your community.
Another familiar kind of ethics is professional ethics. Professional Ethics are professionally accepted standards that relate to the rules governing the conduct, transactions, and relationships within a certain profession and its public. For example, a member of the public should not be held responsible for failing to act to save a car crash victim because they could not give an appropriate emergency treatment. This is due to the lack of relevant knowledge and experience in this sector. In contrast, a fully trained doctor would be capable of making the correct diagnosis. The failure of a doctor to help in such a situation would generally be regarded as negligent and unethical and would eventually affect the reputation of the profession and the confidence of the public. However, the failure of an untrained person wouldn’t be considered as negligence, but would surely be depicted as a rash and negligent individual for acting and causing more damage. Then, Professional ethics is simply the idea of knowing what is right and what is wrong in one’s professional life.
Personal ethics is also one of the daily-used ethics. They are the basic principles and values that govern interactions among individuals. They are typically those habits that positively impact the experience of others when used to govern an individual's social or business related behavior. For instance, a guy went shopping, when he finished, he went home and noticed extra stuff that he didn’t purchase in his bag, he was tempted to just keep the stuff and let the error go, but decided to tell the truth and return them back to the store where the owner in return thanked him for his integrity and truthfulness and offered him free coupons. Personal ethics then, is the ethics you choose for your own personal judgment of yourself and your reputation.

As a conclusion, people’s very own
lives depend on the ethics of strangers, and most of them are always strangers
to other people. Based on this, people should live, for once, emphasizing ethics
rather than rules and should remember that ethics and equity, unlike rules don’t
change with time.

Categories of Ethics
“Education without
values, as useful as it is, seems rather to make man a cleverer devil.” This
quote portrays and asserts the significance of arming one with sets of morals,
values, and principles which would assist him in distinguishing between what is
right and what is wrong, and what is good and evil. Some categories of ethics
are communicational, social, and environmental ethics.
The first category of ethics is communicational ethics. It consists of ethics related to media and public relations such as respect, honesty, and patience. For instance, one should bear in mind the importance of being honest with others, for honesty improves relationships.
Another category of ethics is social ethics which are connected to social justice and political life. Also, these ethics are not necessary to be listed values, but applied morals. For example, one should obey governmental laws. Also social ethics include manners for families like honesty, fidelity, and patience.
In addition, environmental ethics are a big set of ethics that encourage respecting and safeguarding one’s environment. These vindicate that one shouldn’t hurt or harm any animal and beware not to forget these manners. Moreover, such a category of ethics sets the proper code of conduct for humans concerning throwing garbage, hunting, fishing, and even experimenting on animals.
As a conclusion, ethics are the best blocks that one should build his life with to protect himself from loosed beasts and safeguard himself from being one of them. Those include communicational, social, and environmental ethics.

Writing Prompt 2: Develop a well-organized essay about three major categories of ethical concerns.
Sample 1:
The second category of ethical concerns is environmental concerns. Environmental concerns are worries that one should beware of in an environment. Some examples of environmental concerns are dumping toxic wastes in the oceans and land, disorganized hunting practices, dumping garbage, cutting off trees, and mistreating animals and animal abuse. Dumping toxic wastes, wastes, and garbage in the ocean leads to water pollution. Disorganized hunting practices also lead to water pollution like hunting fish using TNT's which destroy the aquatic life and the extinction of certain species on land.
Finally, the last category of ethical concerns is professional and political concerns. They are worries that one should beware of in order to maintain a professional and political life. Living in a society where people are treated in inequality and in an unstable political situation ends up with a violent life. The main example is corruption which includes embezzlement, bribery, espionage, black mail, and hidden political affiliations. Bribery is the most vital example which one can put forth. This is often evident at work place and in parliaments where MPs are bribed to sign agreements that defy all morals and ethics. Espionage is much worse than bribery since it involves backstabbing and betraying a company you work for since you are spying on it or a country that you owe your life to.
As a conclusion, all ethical concerns are deadly and require sounding the alarms. One should be aware of those concerns and combat them to maintain a more beautiful, virtuous, and comfortable life.
Sample 2:
To begin with, social concerns are one of the most notable and prominent categories of ethical concerns. They are fatal and dangerous hazards which threaten and menace the presence of a healthy and good society. Unfortunately, child labor, which is one of these social concerns, is widely spread nowadays; it refers to the employment of children which deprives them from their childhood, interferes with their ability to attend regular school, and that is morally, physically, socially, and mentally dangerous and harmful. Do you know that more than 218 million children aged between 5 and17 are involved in child labor worldwide?! Another serious example of social concerns is the phenomenon of organ trafficking which takes place all over the world and in so many different societies in which the fear-cooperation groups named “Mafias” sell peoples’ organs in what is called “Black Market”.
Another serious and distinct category is the one that takes into consideration the environmental concerns. Environmental concerns are the worries and issues that mar and endanger the environment. As such, environment faces the mistreatment of animals, disorganized hunting processes, the cutting of trees for unnecessary urbanization, and dumping toxic wastes.14 billion pounds of garbage are dumped into the ocean every year, most of which is plastic. People who live in places with high levels of air pollution have a 20% higher risk of death due to lung cancer than people who live in less polluted areas, and, unfortunately, most areas are polluted these days.
The third category of ethical concerns is political and professional concerns. Political and professional life ethics are sets of morals and principles that are being threatened and menaced in the presence of corruption which include bribery, embezzlement, espionage, and hidden political affiliations. All these examples destroy and ruin the stability of a healthy life. For instance, embezzlement is defined as the theft and rape of funds placed in one’s trust or belonging, and this is widely and excessively faced at work nowadays. This leads to loss of one’s integrity and others’ trust in him.
As a conclusion, ethical concerns are the set of issues that must be avoided in order to have a better life in a healthy and good society, and this is asserted by the quote, “A country should be defended not by arms, but by ethical behavior”.
Sample 1:
“Ethics is knowing the difference between what you have right to do and what is right to do.” This quote asserts that ethics aren't rules but are rather sets of values which assist people with the ability to distinguish between what is right and wrong, good and evil. When a person lacks morals and ethics, he is a wild beast unleashed upon the world, corrupting it without bearing in mind the atrocious consequences and effects of his deeds. Thus, being unethical has incalculable impacts that are classified into myriad categories including social, environmental, and economic.
To begin with, being unethical leads to a plethora of social effects among which are trust issues and lack of respect. Unethical people often lack honesty and as such have no credibility and are not trustworthy. For example, when a person lies and betrays others, trust would be beheld from him and that person would lose his credibility. After trust is denied, this person would be defined as a monster, someone not to be associated with, due to low expectations and concerns about his mischievous deeds that have been divulged and exposed to the public. Therefore, he won't be worthy of people's trust and respect. Consequently, social isolation is the foreseen future for such an unethical person since people oft embrace reputable members within their communities, those they deem worthy of being around them and socialising with them.
Yet another crucial category of effects of being unethical is the environmental one, for unethical people already have and are still leaving a gargantuan imprint on their environment through igniting ecological problems and paving the way for the annihilation of the world. The increase in the emission of greenhouse gases, the destruction of the natural habitats, and the acidification of oceans are definitely effects that have been caused by people's carelessness and lack of morals. Some Lebanese politicians can be a good example of unethical people that are, and for the sake of their deeds and greed, demolishing the environment through signing fishy contracts which allow foreign countries to dump toxic wastes in their lands and oil spills in their water. Lack of ethics while exploiting Mother Nature is also leading to water degradation and scarcity, pollution, loss of diversity, deforestation, desertification, soil erosion, and global warming. In addition to that, unethical people are endangering the welfare and well-being of the future generations, for they would destroy the planet because of being captivated and alluded by their impulses. This will lead to the annihilation of a healthy environment for the future generations deeming us as the monsters of yesterday. If people fail to act, such an unethical approach towards nature would indubitably bring about the end of the world.
Being unethical has also led to economic effects be it in the personal or health care sector of the economy. Initially, absence of ethics leads to the loss of jobs and having difficulties in keeping them, for a person who lies, cheats, or commits embezzlement won't be as trustworthy as those who don't. As such, these will be a source of stress and tension for their customers and clients and would eventually lose them, for no one enjoys working with immoral people and being on pins and needles at all times expecting a stab in the back or double-dealing somewhere around the corner. Moreover, in the health-care industry, unethical behavior such as corruption can result in fraud, harming people, or even causing death, according to the World Health Organization. For instance, if medication shipments are diverted or counterfeit and substandard medications are sent instead of the correct product, patients may continue to suffer or perish.
As a conclusion, one should beware his/her desires and caprices, for being enthralled and lured by impulses would degrade one’s integrity and morals in life inflicting grave harm on those around and instigating terminal social, environmental, and economic effects which have the potential to annihilate the world around and swap it with a version from hell. It is indeed a concern to have a world full of devils and monsters demolishing it and turning it into an inferno ablaze, so when will people realize that ethics would indisputably bring back and uphold peace? When will they wake up from their dreams of a world full of fiction and embrace if not battle their reality? When will they enlist ethics and values as inseparable and inevitable constituents of the upbringing process and the educational system?

Deadly Concerns
"I count him braver who overcomes
his desires than him who conquers his enemies, for the hardest victory is over
self". This quote highlights and asserts the importance and significance
of ethics as people's code of conduct. Ethics is the difficult practical task
of applying norms and standards to ever new and changing circumstances.
However, ethics aren't being applied as they should be which puts the world at
stake because of the ethical concerns this causes. There are plenty of
categories of ethical concerns such as social concerns, environmental concerns,
and professional and political concerns.
The first vital category of ethical
concerns is social concerns. Social concerns are critical issues and worries
that are rather endangering societies. They are the fatal and deadly hazards
that endanger communities all across the globe. Some examples of social
concerns are domestic violence, organs trafficking, cyber stalking,
discrimination which includes racism, sexism, sectarianism and inequality, and
child labor. Sectarianism is an example of discrimination. Wars are being done
in some countries such as Iraq because of an ongoing grudge and rancor between
sects like the Sunnis, Shiites, and Christians. Domestic violence is another social
concern. There are two kinds of domestic violence, verbal abuse and physical
abuse. For instance, a step-parent often hits his or her step-daughter or son
and verbally abuses him or her by calling him or her names. Finally, cyber
stalking is the most important example because crimes and delinquent things are
happening with especially girls who are being tricked by cyber friends through catfishing
and some are facing a fatal destiny due to cyber stalking and cyber bullying. 1: Narrative about a Natural Disaster and Humanitarian
Aid
It
is possible: Anywhere Anytime
" Disaster is a natural part of our evolution toward
tragedy and dissolution."This quote
demonstrates the negative issue shaped by a natural disaster, for when it
strikes, it has the potential to invert our pleasant, ecstatic and euphoric life
into hell. As such, it alludes that though it hits indiscriminately, it affects
the poor people most, but there is a lot that people can do to stop hazards from
turning into disasters. Plenty of calamitous mishaps are widely spread,
especially the earthquake. For this reason, the most horrible, terrifying and
petrifying day during which I had witnessed and faced a huge earthquake, has
been carved in my mind and become a part of my life.
It
all happened when I was thirteen years old. I had experienced the hugest
earthquake that hit my country and participated in destroying and abolishing our
mother nature. That disaster revealed and staged to me that our whole planet
should be hastily supported. It helped in triggering and stimulating my desire
to be charitable and humanitarian in aiding others.
I
was sitting with a group of my fellows watching our favorite movie at that
awkward day. As we lent down the carpet, toting a cup of popcorn, we turned on
the film, but in no more than few minutes, we heard a bombastic sound that
filled our entire room, but to our pleasure, it was from that horrifying movie.
However, this scene unfortunately turned real and an exclusive panorama revealed
by the earthquake that shocked the whole country outside and made our whole body
wobble and shudder frequently. However, in spite I was scared out of my wits and
that the reaction was almost impossible due to shock, I quickly got off the
carpet.
We rapidly went out to observe the
mishap that covered our pellucid sky. As I stared at the left side of my porch,
I was petrified to see that, unluckily, most of the buildings were totally
collapsed, and everything surrounding those damaged buildings was crumbled too.
A few minutes later, all I could see was that huge cleft in the center of the
street which bewildered and shocked me. We felt like we should pray to God for
rescue and escape.
Suddenly, in a desperate manner, after
that miserable blow ended, I tossed my coat on and decided to go downstairs to
volunteer, despite my parents’ rejection. A scene of dead people and harsh
injuries was portrayed in front of my eyes which made me struggle to continue my
charity work without any aggravation and vex. As time passed, an ambulance and
fire fighters approached us in order to provide help. I started supporting them
by helping the helpless people and neighbors, and by dwindling people’s severe
wounds.
In conclusion, this dreadful
catastrophe and drastic calamity caught most people unprepared, led to vicious
damages, devastation, and loss of lives, and left a lot of horrifying feelings
inside people’s hearts. Until now, I am not able to forget that devastating
tribulation and ordeal that gave me a view of Mother Nature's wrath and turned
me into a humanitarian citizen. It taught me the importance of humanity. So, a
lot of organizations and foundations should be launched to participate in
disaster relief, in addition to escalating, increasing and accelerating enlisted
volunteers to be trained for emergencies. Bear in mind that "humanity must have a speed of
advance higher than the speed of advance of the tormenting disaster or big
global catastrophe" and nothing is impossible!

Horrible Earthquake
Almost all people know nothing about the
nature of earthquakes. They define them as synonymous of destruction, chaos and
casualties that would exceed the power of the earthquake. I can never forget my
memorable experience toward life’s supernatural
woes.
It
was summer, when Lebanon woke up on the sound of a vigorous earthquake. It was
the day that I’ll never forget. It was the day I experienced my first
earthquake. I had just gotten home and was lying on the living room sofa
watching the news on the TV. My little brother was in his room playing, and my
older sister was in the kitchen preparing our dinner. Our parents were still at
work.
At
exactly 08:30pm the earthquake struck. Our apartment started trembling,
shivering and wobbling as if it were a small wooden boat being tossed by giant
waves in the ocean. At first, none of us realized what was happening. Then,
suddenly my sister yelled for aid and said: “Get under something”! Countless
feelings rushed down my spine. I was stunned, sorrowful, traumatized, perplexed,
terrified and horrified. My heart was about to stop. It raced so fast to the
extent that I felt the ground pumping in harmony with the beat of my heart. I
was about to shriek. I thought I was hallucinating, but the shrieks and yells of
others awakened me. I wanted to move, but I couldn’t. The shaking was so strong
that I soon collapsed and fell off the sofa onto the floor. I half rolled, half
crawled across the floor to the dining table and got under it. My sister was
sitting on the floor in the kitchen, holding her arms over her head to protect
it from falling dishes. The earthquake abated after lasting for less than a
minute, but it seemed like a year to us.
We
headed outside cautiously to see what had happened. The moment we saw the
destruction and abolition, we felt devastated and froze like statues. What we
saw was such a disaster that you can’t imagine. I felt vulnerable and fragile.
My humanitarian and philanthropic sense pushed me to aid people because they
don’t need a dither and a shillyshally person, but a determined one to incite
and provoke their courage. However, I couldn’t stop the high death toll and the
casualties that fell as victims. I felt crumbly because I couldn’t provide a big
support and a sufficient helping hand. I
had no choice but to cross my fingers praying for this horrible moment to
end.
This
earthquake destroyed and abolished our public and nation. It left a trauma and an ache in our hearts
and minds. Bikes were crushed, debris of
collapsed buildings filled the place, and toys of children that were once
innocently and ecstatically playing in their safe houses were found crushed
there to remind us of kids entrapped under remains of
buildings.
This
horrible earthquake riled and vexed us. It let us learn a lesson which is to put
all our hands together because one hand can’t clap alone, and to preserve and
maintain our environment. We are all invited to cooperate in handling and
tackling this environmental problem. ”We must think globally but act
locally.”
This
brutish earthquake was just one of tragic stories of reality. But, on the bright
side, without these tragedies all stories will be fictions and impossible to
believe because adventures are the thrill of
life.

Where
Does Beauty Lie??
“Handicapped
people have more ability than normal people where removing an ability that
strengthens another one.” This quote asserts and alludes that even though
disabled people are prevented from an ability, this disability could also make
another ability stronger to use or would even make it more special than that of
normal people. This ability in something and disability in another gives the
handicapped people self-confidence, determination, and will power to show the world that they are like normal people or
even in some cases better. That was a lesson I learned in a part of my life. It
was that day, when an accident left a huge impact on me and revealed the
misconception in some of my thoughts, that I learned this
lesson.
One afternoon, I arrived
home from school, and as usual I sat with my mom preparing our meal and chatting
when suddenly the phone rang. It was her neighbor asking for help. She had an
important situation that she had to go out for, but she needed a babysitter for
her physically challenged son. Mom couldn't refuse, and she agreed to help her
even though she was too busy. However, she felt confused about how she could do
all this work.
I could see her confusion, so I thought,
well, I can do this! Tons of things rolled in my head. I had never interacted
with a person like him, but the sense of humanity and eagerness to help others
overcame everything else. And out of a sudden, I found myself shouting, “I can
babysit him tonight." A meanwhile later, I found myself in their house while
both were welcoming me in a very nice way.
After that, the mom left. I felt something
strange tickling me from inside. I was
outrageously nervous. I couldn't know what to say or do. We sat together trying
to understand each other’s minds. I loved that boy so much. He told me about his hobby which is playing
piano. He told me the entire story and how he faced so many problems in his
attempt to be a professional.
He had the aim to be professional.
First I didn't believe that a disabled boy like him would be professional. But
when it was time to leave, he grabbed me over to show me what his magnificent
fingers can articulate. I was devastated to hear the amazing tunes played by
this boy.
He was really amazing. His
self-confidence, determination, and will power to become a professional helped
him in facing all the obstacles he faced. He failed a lot in the beginning, but
that didn’t stop him. Instead, it
strengthened his will, so he persevered till he reached his
goal.
At that day, many questions were roaming
around in my head. “Why do we misjudge those people? Why do we consider them
inferior to us? Why do we neglect their presence in society and barely give them
the chance to express themselves?”
That experience and that boy taught
me a lot of things. One of them was not
to underestimate anyone, whoever he was, because when there is a will there is a
way. From that day, my entire attitude to life changed, and I started believing
in myself and started preparing for a successful
life.

4: A Narrative of Someone Facing an Ailment and Got Inspired by Someone Else’s
Misfortune and Ordeal Which Caused a Turning Point in His
Life
On the Edge
On the edge, I was standing, as the
cold and dry breezes tense the thoughts of which I have encountered repeatedly.
Warming myself, I'm standing, frozen, in the life I've chosen, stuck on this
roller coaster and can't get off this ride. Hesitation possessing me leaving me
with nothing but bewilderment as to which I should or should not take my own
life. I've heard that diving into frozen water from high distance is as hard as
the sensation of having thousands of knives constantly stabbing you. As I was
about to make my move, I felt a tender and soothing voice with comforting words
saying, "In the end, everything will be okay. If it's not okay, it's not yet the
end". Hear my story and you'll figure out things on your
own.
On a summer day of 1990, a happy couple
led a new life, good wife, loyal husband, beautiful kids, modern house, decent
job, and good salary. To him, Dan had it all.
It all seemed well at that time, but few did he know. On an ordinary
night, and while he was returning from work after suffering from a double shift,
he stopped by a coffee shop by means to relax in his car before he drives back
home. Suddenly he heard screams begging for mercy. Rushing to save the man in
stress, he pauses to find a threatened man facing a gun. A bullet was shot and
the man triggering his gun pointed his weapon at him. Miraculously, dodging the
bullets, he rushed to his car, being the only witness of murder, he drove
straight home praying that he wouldn’t be followed.
Being the good person he was, he decided
to testify, cracking a case wide opened that included gang bosses, drug dealers
and serial killers. Not wanting Dan and his family to be in danger, the FBI
decided to put them in a witness protection program (WPP). But little did they
know that he was far from safe…The day after, Dan woke up lying in a hospital
bed, and all he was able to remember was the heavy footsteps of his screaming
family members lost in the scary dark forest. He was wondering where the rest of
his family was, waiting for a response, the FBI broke down the devastating news
of the murder of all of them, but what they called a "bright side" is that he
was believed to be dead, so he was no longer being hunted down and free to live
the rest of his life. But what reason is there to live for when all he cared
about was lost, his wife, kids, and his dream of watching them
grow.
Unwilling to go back home, he was lost, not
knowing what to do or where to go with his family not around. He was wrecked and
devastated by the grief and sorrow of his loss. He didn’t know how to move on,
so he turned into a gambling alcoholic, things didn’t matter anymore, doors were
shut in his face and his world shattered. He wasn't conscious of what is
happening for the only thing crossing his mind was avenging his family. It was
when he read about another murder that he knew that this had to stop, but what
could he do? He dedicated his life studying forensics to become the most
successful detective, locking away a lot of criminals behind bars, for crime
never ends.
Inspired by this stranger's story, I came to
the realization that my problems were null compared to his. What doesn’t kill
you makes you stronger, for a lot of people have conquered cancer before and so
will I. This isn’t the end, for I might encounter a lot more in the future, and
I can't just give up to every problem I face. I will stumble a lot and might
even fall but what matters is getting back up stronger than before, so that’s
precisely what I'm going to do. Hence, I turned around to thank this mysterious
stranger for sharing his experience, but there was no one to thank. Curiously, I
went back home and looked up this "Dan" guy to find a story that exactly matched
what I've heard!

Faceless Monster
Poverty is a word you hear, but do you
really know what it means? Have you ever thought about the devastating and the
inevitable power and leverage of poverty on vulnerable and poor people? Poverty
is the worst monster in every sector of the globe. This monster doesn’t have a
heart; that’s why when poverty speaks it sounds heartless, and it doesn’t have
a mind; that’s why it seems mindless and careless about the lethal way it
affects people. They say that every situation in life has its own effect on
people. Some might be forgotten while others can be stuck in the memory. I can
never forget that life changing and heartbreaking incident which I once lived,
my encounter with poverty.
It all started when my friend and I
decided to quest and pursue an adventure in an abundant area on the first of
July 2014. As we were in the car, we noticed on the sidewalk and under the
burning sun of summer, an old man sitting alone. The gestures of pain,
distress, and suffering concealed his plain looking face. He smelled bad and
dirty; even his clothes were inappropriate, for they were torn; I bet by the
teeth of the heartless monster “poverty”. His back was curved, and it was
obvious that he can’t stand properly; it might be because of the uncomfortable
place he sleeps in where the pillow is a stone and the bed is the harsh and
hard street.
My friend and I were shocked and appalled
by the piteous situation that the poor old man was in. We approached him to ask if he needs any
help hoping that we’d be capable of providing him with humanitarian and philanthropic
aid. He didn’t speak, but his eyes were loud revealing the despair because of
the betrayal of the cruel life. Following the momentous and crucial concept of
helping others and offering humanitarian aid and a helping hand whenever
possible, my friend and I decided to take him into a NGO which will help him
live better and provide him with his rights as a human.
Three years later, I decided to visit the
old man in the NGO. When I arrived, I noticed that he was adjusted and
accustomed to his new lifestyle where he was given all his rights including his
right to live pleasantly and peacefully.
As a conclusion, I have noticed that
poverty is all about being hungry, being dirty, and it’s all about illiteracy,
unemployment, and ignorance. Poverty is lack of money, lack of self-confidence,
and determination. Poverty is the death of your child because of hunger and
diseases. Simply, it is the worst form of living.

Topic 1: TWO CAUSES OF HUNGER
SAMPLE 1:
A Catastrophic
Calamity
“You
might be poor and hungry. Your shoes might be broken, but your mind is a
palace.” This quote refers to the cataclysmic mishap that is affecting every
nation, community and individual in every sector of the globe. Being unwanted,
unloved, and uncared for, is a much greater hunger and much greater poverty than
being ignored by someone, since where justice is denied, where hunger is
enforced, where ignorance is prevailed, people of every nation and every class
will consider the society an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade
which will make our life and luxury in danger. Yet, hunger should require a lot
of cooperation and collaboration in order to dwindle its perilous effect. One
can deduce that hunger is the worst blow that a human being might ever counter
with innumerable causes such as natural disasters and
unemployment.
One
of the most notable and devastating causes of hunger is natural disasters.
Natural disasters represent a list of traumatized and agonized people which have
the power to unveil a social disaster portrayed by hunger and which is a result
of the fragility, susceptibility and lack of resilience of a population when
facing threats. People would lose their houses, workplace, and source of income.
Thus, a scene of devastation, destruction and chaos would be everywhere, and
feelings of sorrow, pain and grief would be in every people’s heart running away
from death having the desire but not the ability. Hence, people can do a lot to
stop hazards from turning into disasters.
Yet another horrible cause of hunger is unemployment. Being illiterate
and uneducated that is widely spread in the whole planet is considered the main
reason behind unemployment. Moreover, most people are not willing to indulge
with the modern technology and to be up to date which may lead to the
destruction, demolition and obliteration of their luxury and educational life,
and they should arm themselves with knowledge to be safe from hunger. Yet, the
governments of developing countries don’t provide them with proper food and
services. They are only taking from the needy and giving the
greedy.
As a conclusion, it is obvious that hunger is a critical issue which has
the potential to stage and portray the agony, pain, and suffering found behind
the façade of glee and bliss. So, a lot of organizations and foundations should
be established in order to participate in disaster relief and governments must
increase, escalate and accelerate enlisted volunteers to be trained for
emergencies. Bear in mind that it is God’s will for you to live in prosperity
instead of hunger and it is God’s will you pay your bills instead of being in
debt.

The Worst Form of Death
“If poverty was a man, we would have killed him”.
This saying foreshadows and highlights the sense of humanity, empathy, and
compassion of Imam Ali towards the poor and vulnerable people. It implies and
asserts that poverty is the worst calamity and mishap that a human being might
ever encounter. Unemployment, technological inventions, and political
instability are some catastrophic and chaotic causes of poverty. The devastating
product of these problems, poverty, has inevitable outcomes such as physical
effects, social effects, and psychological effects.
To begin with, some of the most notable effects of
poverty are physical effects. Poor people suffer from hunger and starvation
because of their horrible and horrendous poverty, the lack of others’ concern,
and the lack of financial aid. For instance, poor people are usually beggars,
homeless, and unemployed. This paves the way for starvation. They sit on the
street begging for food to satisfy the hunger of their kids, and ask for
clothes which would protect and safeguard them from the penetration of
pestilence diseases in the cold winter. Moreover, they crawl for medical
treatment to avoid demises and death.
Other critical and lethal effects of poverty are
social effects. These effects embody the massive and huge gap in the societies
due to the difference between social classes and ranks, which, subsequently,
leads to discrimination, segregation, and inequity between poor and rich people
who are indifferent and aloof towards the poor, for they are materialistic
people. Another momentous and crucial example of this miserable situation is
illiteracy since poor people can’t afford education which leads to
unemployment.
The third fatal and dangerous effect and outcome of
poverty is the psychological one. Poverty plays a significant and important role
in affecting the psychological situation of poor people, by weakening and
diminishing their self-confidence, self-esteem, and their ability to surmount
and overcome the hardships of this cruel life. For instance, such people don’t
have enough courage to reveal and show their agony and distress, so they have a
devastated and depressed personality. They are too weak to defend themselves
against the manipulation and exploitation of those in power, the rich.
As a conclusion, the quote, “Poverty is the worst
form of death” is unquestionably true, for poverty is a disastrous and
catastrophic calamity widely spread in the world. This issue must be treated through
governmental concern and aid, in addition to forming assemblies responsible for
giving philanthropic and humanitarian aid.

Sample 2:
"If
poverty was a man, we would have killed him." This is a quote which
asserts that poverty is a wild slayer that causes agony and death. When a
person scars his hand, he would feel pain that he can't stand. But what would a
child that walks barefooted on hard asphalt, wondering about whether anyone
feels his pain, feel? He has nothing that could settle the anguish except for
the matches he's trying to sell. This is the life of a poor person, and it
clearly states that being poor affects one's life critically. Some of the
effects poverty on the poor are health effects, psychological effects, and social
effects.
To
begin with, being poor causes major effects on one's health. A child crying because of illness, a father
thrown out in front of a hospital, a mother coughing blood with no medicine are
all scenes that show how health with no money is being affected. It's easier to
count a poor man’s bones, for his empty stomach would eventually feed on his
flesh till he turns into a skinny barely shown figure. Those are more likely to
be victims of vicious diseases and ailments, for their bodies are vulnerable
and their immunity system too fragile to function properly.
Moreover,
the poor are psychologically affected by their way of life. Most of them think
desperately about their future. They don't believe their lives and situations
will get any better. A great amount of poor people commit suicide because of
their pessimism and hopelessness. Poor people often lack self-confidence and
the spine to stand up for themselves and defend their dignity and life. They
often fall as victims of physical abuse and remain silent about it since they
know that the rich always get away with it and would be petrified of clashing
with them.
Yet
another effect is harming most of the world's societies. To begin with, poverty
makes people violent. What would be expected from a child who grew up in need? Do
people ask themselves why, when entering a poor house, a girl has killed her
mother with a piece of glass, or are they always busy sending it to the media?
The answer would be because of a fight for 100 dollars. The reason why they
become aggressive is because the environment they grew up in is aggressive
itself. Poverty increases cases of theft and murder. Those engulfed in poverty
are often victims of human trafficking in all its forms such as sex trade,
organs trafficking, and slavery. Those also suffer from illiteracy due to their
inability to afford the tuitions and fees which further heighten their poverty
and inability to change their situation, for their job opportunities would be
limited.
In
conclusion, poverty is extremely harmful to one's life. Its effects are major
and huge and cost lives. The poor are always miserable, ill, and hostile, and
invisible. Their attitudes and states are society's fault, but the major issue
is people’s indifference towards those who are unlucky enough to suffer from
poverty. When will those notice that such a calamity is, sooner or later, going
to engulf them too? When will they snap out of their merciless and aloof
attitude and start showing some sympathy and concern? When will they join hands
and fight back?

Sample 3:
Effects of Poverty
“If poverty was a man we would have killed him.” This quote asserts that poverty has become a well-spread phenomenon in our daily social life. Poverty is a deadly calamity and dilemma facing the whole wide world by its serious causes like political instability, unequal distribution of the world’s wealth, and many other causes that may lead to hazardous and innumerable effects that may leave an impact on humanity in general. The most three notable effects of poverty are social, psychological and physical effects.
To begin with, social effects are mostly highlighted through the increase in the gap between social classes and escalation in cases of crime. One theory of poverty has to do with the flight of the middle class, including employers, from the cities and into the suburbs. This has limited the opportunities for the inner-city poor citizens to find adequate jobs and escalates poverty. This poverty also creates social instability thus killing the chances of proper engagement between different social classes.
Another significant effect of poverty is in the psychological domain. Poor people are mostly the ones subjected to cases of depression and attempts of suicide. Poverty is the main reason behind frustration and depression, for poor people tend to think that they have no significant cause to live or effect in the society they live in. Such mentalities tend to intrigue suicide in the most horrible ways one can think of.
Moreover, poverty has a big impact on the physical field. People suffering from innumerable dilemmas and hazardous problems like starvation and lack of proper lodging often fall as victims of and suffer from pestilences and diseases that may be contagious and spread rapidly to a big population of people. This is due to their skinny and fragile bodies and their weak immune system which can’t defend them against the vicious and venomous teeth of poverty, hunger, and starvation.
As a conclusion, poverty is something that many people suffer from, and this phenomenon is detrimental, for it affects negatively on this social. As such, people should exert a gigantic effort and set plans to fight back against poverty and safeguard their community members, for the effects of such a calamitous problem are often deadly.

SAMPLE 1: Argumentative Essay about Space Exploration
Is there More?
“When people stop trying to reach new goals, the movement forward stops”. This quote highlights and asserts that people must keep on trying to discover new goals in order to develop space and unveil the mysteries found behind other planets which made our world smaller and the universe much larger. Various opinions have flourished concerning reconnoitering space, some of which are with and others against. Although some claim that space exploration is a perilous dilemma since it is expensive and leads to hazards, I support the idea of space exploration because it provides us with a wider source of advancements in science and technology and with geographical information.
The most significant advantage of space exploration is providing us with a wider source of advancements in science and technology. There is no doubt that space exploration has been people’s crucial aim especially in nations’ technologies since it has the potential to allow us to understand more about space, the universe and its system. Many satellites have assisted the development of countless technologies including networks as internet, radios and TV’s which triggered most scientists to try new things. Moreover, that exploration facilitated communication, bestowed upon us a wide range of information, and granted us an easier life. Thus, one small step for a man made one giant leap for mankind.
Another pro of space exploration is providing us with geographical information. It helped in presenting and showing geographical sectors we live in which gave us plenty of information about temperature and weather too. Moreover, any outgoing message could be pointed to which country, neighborhood, and even building it came out from as a result of one of space exploration’s achievements which is, the famous GPS navigating system. Add to that, most space exploration journeys and tours had changed the means of geography in our mother planet. Hence, there is a lot that people can do to turn their crude and simple life into an easier and adventurous one.
A lot of people say that space exploration should be abolished and dwindled because it is a waste of good money. Today, plentiful questions are being asked concerning the waste of money resulting in space discovering. Millions of dollars are being spent on it which made most citizens think that instead of wasting numerous amounts of money on this activity, governments should use it for practical purposes on earth. However, people seem to forget that money is already being wasted on wars and artificial or unnecessary technological gadgets, so why not spend it on useful things instead??
As a conclusion, space exploration is considered a huge aid to people in every sector of the globe. It is also known as an essential and substantial study to learn and discover more about planets which also helped in creating new technologies for us and in learning how to guard our earth. Despite the fact that space exploration projects need a lot of money and work, they can’t be cancelled since they present the future and dream of human kind. People should bear in mind that, “The earth is just too small and fragile a basket for the human race to keep all eggs in it.”

Sample 2: Argumentative about Prevention against Drug Abuse
Prevention Vs. Rehab
The quote, “Raising Kids is part joy and
part guerilla warfare.” is unquestionably true, for there is nothing as jovial
as seeing one’s child turn into an adult and nothing more arduous than making
sure that he/she is being raised well into the man or woman that he/she is yet
to be. Parents are often left with critical decisions and alert states due to
the ongoing problems and pressures that their teens might encounter such as peer
pressure, drug abuse, and identity quest. One major issue is drug abuse which
has become the center of attention of societies, parents, and governments and a
juicy topic for debate concerning the best ways to overcome it, be it through
prevention or rehab. Although some claim that prevention is disadvantageous
since it is rather expensive, I disagree since it saves time and money and
eliminates the death toll.
One major reason why prevention should be encouraged and funded as a means of fighting and surmounting drug abuse and drug addiction is that it saves time and money. Prevention helps save time since by the time it takes months if not years to be cured from drug and alcohol addiction at a rehabilitation facility, prevention can take place while one is living his life normally studying, working, and doing his daily chores through raising awareness campaigns, phone messages sent by the MOT, billboards, and 1 to 2 hours’ worth lectures by social advisors and counselors. Least to say, prevention ensures that one would never have to seek rehab since once one reaches that point, there’s no going back, for at any moment of crisis, one is likely to go back to drugs and alcohol as a means of escapism from reality which means going back to rehab. Prevention also helps save money, for the amount of money spent on raising everyone’s awareness is by far less than the amount spent on rehab.
Not only does prevention save time and money but also eliminates death toll. The percentage of people passing away in car accidents while on drugs, suicidal attempts, and overdose is escalating tremendously each year. This could all be trounced through prevention and raising awareness campaigns which would ensure that one would never reach a point of drug abuse and addiction, hence diminishing the risks of dying because of overdose, suicide, and accidents.
Critics of this notion argue that prevention is rather expensive and costs a lot of money from the government’s capital. Raising awareness campaigns, commercials and ads done by celebrities and professionals, phone messages, posters, and TV reports would cost a huge amount of money from the government’s assets. As such, some argue that prevention is costly and expensive. However, those tend to forget that the amount of money spent on other superficial things like wars and tourism is by far more than that spent on prevention, not to mention that the amount of money being spent on rehab exceeds the normal limits and is a waste of good money that could help the country’s economy.
In conclusion, life puts people and their governments in front of challenging and strenuous decisions, so people have to weigh things well especially when it comes to the future of a nation resembled in its future generation. As such, protecting and safeguarding teenagers from drug addiction and abuse should be taken seriously. Prevention and protection is better than rehab and compunction.
